2014 Year End Review

2014 has been a great year.  I feel like each year that passes goes quicker and quicker.  My little ones are growing so fast and I feel like I am just not ready for it.  I know it has to happen but I wish time would slow down just a little!

Every year on the 31st of December many people vow to make changes in their life for 2015.  I've been around a while and failed so many times in making these crazy promises to myself.  This year I decided I want the best for 2015.  This means living each day to its fullest and if I decide I want to make changes, Monday is always a good place to start.  I don't want to put a crazy list of things I want to change and try to do them all at once.  I've tried this and failed every year.  The expectations are just too high and I don't want to start off a new year failing.

One thing I have accomplished this year, has been being consistent with my blog.  I am pretty proud that I have really made an effort at working at this.  I do this for fun.  I love to share the things I have.  It's a creative outlet for me.  I may not be the best writer, my grammar sucks, or the best photographer but that's ok, I'm totally enjoying this.

With that being said, here's a recap of my year in blogland.

Winter/Holiday Style Me Pretty Challenge. Week 3.

Can you believe it is Christmas Eve?!  I'm sure there are a ton of households that are nice and busy today.  My house is one of them.  I will be at work and my hubby will be at home with the kiddos relaxing and cooking a turkey!  We celebrated Thanksgiving at a friends house this year and I was totally bummed not to have left overs so we decided to cook for Christmas.

Last week went by so fast.  I'm not sure if it's because of the holiday or because I am back at work or both!  I've been coming home after work and crashing on the couch for a nice little nap.  Now I feel like my little naps are earned ;)  HA when is a mothers nap not earned.

This week has been a fun week of outfits.  I must say that this challenge has been such a great PICK ME UP.  It came at perfect timing!

So without more rambling, here is week 3 of my Style Me Pretty Winter/Holiday challenge. (New Years Resolution, take better pictures!)

Winter/Holiday Style Me Pretty Challenge. Week 2.

WOW!!! What a difference one week can make!  I can't even tell you what this challenge has done for me.  I am absolutely LOVING the responsibility of getting myself dressed.  Ask me one month ago and I would be picking out those classy yoga pants and favorite sweatshirt.

This week I have some fun new outfits to share.  What I have realized is that I need some color in my life.  I tend to gravitate towards darker colors.  But that's ok, it works for me.

Here is week two of THIS fabulous challenge! With another dose of awkward selfies!

Organizing Warranties and Owner's Manuals

Are you all ready for Christmas?!  Eeek I can't believe it's next week.  This past week I was lucky enough to have my blender quit on me.  I know who calls that lucky?!  Well lucky for me, hubby got me a new blender, a Ninja!! I'm super excited about it but super annoyed at myself because I haven't even used it yet.  Our house is so small, the accessory pieces are literally in three parts of the house.  I won't tell you about the crying fit I had because of our tiny kitchen.  I'll keep that to myself.

In getting the new blender, it came with warranties and owner's manuals.  Ugh just another thing to have to to keep somewhere.  For the past few years I had a system in place but I figured now was the perfect time to really get it all together.  This comes just in time for Christmas gifts that come with all that paper fun.

Winter/Holiday Style Me Pretty Challenge. Week 1.

I am so super excited to be a part of a wardrobe challenge.  I feel like I have been in a wardrobe funk for quite a while.  I've gained some weight and just feel uncomfortable.  Sometimes you just have to get over it and do with what you have.  So that's what I am doing.

Just recently my friend Jenni, introduced me to Get Your Pretty On (*affiliate link).  I was soooo excited about this that I signed up right away!  A challenge to improve my wardrobe, and in WINTER?!?! I'm in.

Alison, our virtual stylist has been featured in some major magazines so the idea of having her as my "personal" stylist made it even that much more exciting.

For the next couple of weeks I will be sharing my outfits from the challenge.
So here you go...

My Planner "Plan" for 2015

Can you believe it is December 2nd?!  Eeeek I swear the end of this year is creeping up so fast.  Although I was terrible at many things this year, I did manage to really knock my socks off on some other things.  I planned ahead on quite a few things which made it really helpful.  It also got me thinking, when I plan, I succeed!  How silly is that?!

Well that is the truth.  I thought I took Christmas pictures too early, then I thought I ordered them too early.  But guess what?  They were all in the mail yesterday!  I am PROUD!!!

In the passed couple of years, I have realized that I am all over the place when it comes to planners.  I think I have bought every kind of planner out there.  Much to no succeed.  Planners come out twice a year so for us planner addicts, it's hard to settle down when you know you have two times a year to shop.  The colors change, they become fancy, it's like you have NEVER seen one like it before.  Kind of like that cute necklace, but for me, it's a Planner, THAT, catches my eye.

I've really tried to pay attention to how I plan and what has been successful.  So that brings me to...

Ready for Christmas with My Christmas Holiday Planner

Can someone please pinch me?!  Is it REALLY Thanksgiving week?! I don't even think I can remember the last two months, they have gone by so incredibly fast.

As much as I would like to call myself a planner, I JUST put my Halloween decorations away on Saturday.  I haven't even started planning what is going on for the month of December.  Didn't I just do a post about my November goals?!

OK, OK I got it, it's almost December. I just picked up my Christmas picture/cards, picked up stamps and FINISHED putting my Holiday Planner together.  I did good by planning our pictures earlier in the month.  I thought I was a little early but I think the timing was perfect.  By the time I get them out, it should be right around the beginning of December.

I started toying with the idea of a Holiday Planner last year.  I knew I didn't want a planner that I actually carried around with me.  9 times out of 10 when I start buying gifts for my kiddos, I buy them, then go Black Friday shopping and EVERYTHING I bought was quite a few dollars cheaper.  So last year I decided that this year I would just buy all their gifts on Black Friday.  I also decided that I have no need to make a Black Friday shopping list because I don't want to be disappointed when I walk in to Wal Mart for that 80 inch TV that's on sale for $5 and it's gone.  Psssshhhh Yeah RIGHT!!!

To make my shopping experience a little more fun, I decided as long as I make it to Target, I'm happy.  Anything else is just a bonus!  It truly is just easier that way.  What ever deals I find on the way will just make it that much more fun.

Every year when the stores start bringing out the Christmas decor, I always browse.  Every once in a while I see some ornaments that I like and think, "hmmmm will these go with my ornaments?!"  It's very frustrating.  Last year I came up with a plan.  I took pictures of EVERY. SINGLE. ornament and saved it.  I had a couple of ideas on how I wanted to do the planner and when I finally decided, this is what I came up with.

My Recent Ikea Trip

So by now I am pretty sure that my friends are done listening to me obsess about Ikea.  I can't say enough about how much I LOVE going in to that store.  I mean it's a good 1.5 hour away but I. DON'T. CARE!!!  I will go back again, soon!

Recently my handsome hubby went back home to Minnesota to go deer hunting with his family, a tradition he very much enjoys.  I didn't enjoy taking him to the airport because I knew I would miss him but I did enjoy the stop I was able to make at Ikea on my way home.

I found out that one of my friends had NEVER been so I took her with me to drop off my hubby.  I know, might be a little weird for some but I literally dropped him off curbside because you can't do much in the airport these days.  It was the easiest thing to do at the crazy airport we were at.

Siri doesn't like me much because when I asked her to take me to Ikea, she took me to the area, NOT the store.  Thankfully we were only 10 minutes away from the actual store.  My friend Sunny and I spent a good few hours there.  BUT, I was so happy because she LOVED it.  She bought some stuff and so did I.

Four days later I went again with my friend Tina, and I have pictures to prove it!!!

My Music Playlist

"You could have been getting down to, this, sick, beat..."

OMG I am OBSESSED with Taylor Swifts new song, Shake it Off!  I'm sure everyone has heard it and is probably already sick of it.  BUT me, NO!!!

I am a LOVER of music.  I think that my kids probably know just how much.  I have also passed on the, as soon as I hear a song I like, I start moving, to Kyle.  He is so funny to watch sometimes because as soon as he hears a song he likes,  he'll just start dancing.  I LOVE THAT BOY!!!

I definitely like POP! Ha!! 30 something and I am listening to POP.  Oh well.  I have to say that I love to dance and sing and move around.  I'm not a good dancer by any means but I love dancing to fun music and good beats.

Here are my TOP 10 songs playing on repeat in my house, car and phone:

1. Taylor Swift - Shake It Off
2. Katy Perry - Dark Horse
3. Glee Cast (More like Lea Michele) - Don't Rain On My Parade
4.NKOTB - Hangin' Tough   ***TOTALLY serious!!!
5. Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble
6. Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are
8.  Victoria Justice - Best Friend's Brother
9. Katy Perry - Legendary Lovers
10. Katy Perry - Unconditionally

Yup these are all currently on my play list and I LOVE

Now you know the music I like to listen to daily.  If you ever pull up next to me while I'm driving, don't be surprised if I am singing at the top of my lungs with the music blaring.  Only when I'm by myself.  Hey it's better than catching me on my phone!

What songs are on repeat for you?

November Goals

I still can't get over the fact that we are in November.  I feel like I haven't quite recovered from October.  I looked at my planner to see what the month of November had in store for us and I was quite relieved to see that it wasn't going to be that busy.  Please tell me why, in this not so busy month, I have yet to stop and it looks like there is no end in site?!

With time flying by I decided I needed to really sit down and figure out what NEEDS to get done.  I'm working on a lot this month but I really need to focus on a few goals.

So here it is, in PRINT for ALL THE WORLD to see and call me on my bluff if I don't get it done!

Fabulous Finds Friday Vol. 3

I know you don't really think I haven't shopped since I came back from San Diego.  I would TOTALLY be lying if I said I have been good and haven't shopped.  HA that'll be the day.  I have definitely gotten some good things but the month of September and October were crazy!! Here's to hoping that November is a little LESS crazy!

I've had a few friends ask me if they've missed this post, that made me realize I should probably keep up with it.  If you don't like to go out and shop, you can shop vicariously through me!

Make it Monday Vol. 4

OOOoooh I have to say that October has been BUSY!!! I have literally done something EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!! Sunday was my day OFF and I did NOTHING and I have to say that I am super happy about that.  I am regretting it this Monday because now I am running one day behind!

I recently participated in a craft show.  Half of my month was preparing for the craft show.  Now that it is over, I have some lovelies to share!  Halloween is Friday and  I can't even  believe how fast it crept up.

It's been a while since I shared what I have posted in my Etsy shop.  I'm trying to decide how I will share items.  Maybe once a month?  Not at all? What do you think?  Do you like seeing new things?

Enjoy and I hope you have a good last week of October!

Notebook Dividers: How To Use Them With Plastic Sleeves

EEEEEEeeek Day 3 of Alex Beadon's Feel Good Blogging Challenge!  I can't believe I actually kept going with this.  I am SUCH a procrastinator and really bad at follow-through.  This has been a SUPER great challenge for me and has got the writing juices flowing.  I should be on Day 4 but I decided to take Sunday and clean my house from top to bottom so I could focus on blog posts and getting ready for a craft show this weekend.  I'm so nervous for both!

So without further ado, I bring to you today's Feel Good Blogging Challenge; A Tutorial!

When I posted my Errand Planner, I had NOOOO idea of how much positive feedback I would get.  I use this everyday and just thought I would share it. Little did I know that it would help a ton of people out and inspire them to make their own!

In my planner I use dividers and plastic sleeves.  Anyone that has tried to do this, I'm sure realizes that the plastic sleeves ALWAYS go passed the dividers.  Super annoying!!!  If you're not sure what I'm talking about, take a look.

My True Passion!

Blog Challenge #2 A Passionate Post

Here I am day number 2.  For those of you that follow me regularly, I'm sure you are SHOCKED to see me here two days in a row.  I'm trying so hard to make blogging one of my priorities.  I am so lucky to be able to stay home and this is something I LOVE to do.

Let's talk passion!!! When I was about 10 years old, I remember visiting a cousin of mine.  I remember her bedroom being a DISASTER.  I vaguely remember my aunt telling her she needed to clean her room.  Tell any kid to clean their room and I'm sure you'll get whines and frowns.  If it wasn't mine, I was ALL over it!  I took it upon myself to clean up the room.  In my eyes I didn't see it as cleaning, I saw it as Organizing.  Just this summer when we were in San Diego I found an old Dr. Seuss book.  I'm not sure what it's called but it has questions like, how many stairs are in your home, how many tv's, how many windows.  At the end it asks your age and what you want to be when you grow up

A few days ago I came across a post on my Facebook wall from Alex Beadon.  I can't remember exactly what it said but it COMPLETELY caught my attention!  She was going to be hosting a Feel Good Blogging Challenge so I decided to take a look.  After I signed up and got the first email, I was hooked.  She made the challenge feel fun and easy, something I could totally do.

It's Halloween Time!!

I don't know about you but I LOVE Halloween!  It's one of my favorite Holidays.  I know some people don't consider it a Holiday but I do and I LOVE it!  When I was little my mom decorated for every season and Holiday.  I have picked up that fun little trait.  When the kids see the Halloween bins out they ALWAYS squeal with excitement! (They get it from their mama).

Just recently our friends moved up to our area.  Jennie and I got to talking and it was like MAGIC happened!! She is SUPER UBER talented and loves to craft like me.  So we put our heads together and came up with some FUN Halloween inspiration.

If you read my post about Kailey's Parisian Party, you definitely saw the cute cupcake toppers.  Well, get ready for some serious cuteness!  I hope our Halloween photo fun will inspire you to get ready for Halloween.

And we are BACK TO SCHOOL!

Am I late or what?!  Since the kids have gone back to school I have literally been non - stop.  Ok I lied, maybe I have given myself a day or two to relax but that's it, I promise.

We had a great summer.  We stayed up way too late every single night and slept in way too late every single day.  I got a little depressed because I felt like nothing was ever going to change.  As soon as school started, I got my mojo back.  Sometimes I do my best when I am overly busy.  It's amazing the things that still need to be done all day when the kids are gone.  Did I mention they come home every day at lunch time?

I am so excited to share an updated post on my Errand Planner.  Originally I had titled it "How an Errand Planner saves my day" but really it's my shopping companion.

When I wrote the original post, I had NO idea that it would end up being my most viewed.  As it turns out it's been my MOST POPULAR post, ten times over.  Thank you so much for taking a look.

If you saw the original post, you'll be excited to see the changes that I made.  If you haven't seen it, take a look at the original one HERE.

Make It Monday Vol. 3

Whoah!! Anyone else been running around all over the place since school started?  I feel like I can't catch a break.  I have neglected just about everything.  Well I guess that's not true, but I pretty much have been focusing on one thing at a time.  As a result, there are lots of things that have suffered around the house.  The one thing that has kept me busy has been my bows...

Here are couple bows that I just listed to my Etsy shop.

And here are a couple others that I've sold.

This mama has been busy, but a good busy.  This next week will be crazy as I have a birthday celebration to prepare for.  I can't wait to share that with you

What I Made From Pinterest Wednesday Vol. 2

Ooh I am so glad the kiddos are getting ready to head back to school.  I mean I am sad that they won't be in the house but knowing that they are going to get back to school gave me a boost this past weekend to get some projects done.

I always dread dinner time.  I don't want to always make the same meals and I'm scared to try new ones because I'm afraid they'll be a FAIL!  Not this week, woooo hoooo I found a new recipe to put on rotation!

This was a super easy meal.  I almost didn't make it because I thought it was going to get all negatives.  But I'm so glad that I did because it was delicious.

BBQ Chicken Ranch French Bread

1 loaf french bread
3 cups shredded chicken (I use rotisserie)
1-2 cups BBQ sauce
3-4 cups mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 avocado, diced
Ranch dressing

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Toss the shredded chicken with 1 cup bbq sauce (use more or less if desired). Cut the french bread in half length-wise.  Spread a thin layer of bbq sauce on each half of the bread.  Top with mozzarella cheese (about 1 1/2 cups on each slice). Top with bbq chicken, onion and avocado (dividing evenly among each half).
3. Broil for 3-5 minutes until cheese melted and bubbly. Sprinkle cilantro over the top and drizzle with ranch dressing.  Cut into thin slices and serve.

Make sure and visit to get this recipe.

I did not have a rotisserie so I just cooked chicken with bbq sauce in the crockpot and shredded it when it was done.  I also didn't add onion because it's like garlic and vampires with onion in this house.  I'm the only one that likes it.  I have never actually broiled anything but did for the first time and only had to have it in the oven for three minutes and it was cooked perfectly.

When my hubby came in the kitchen his eyes perked up really quick, he told the kids to come look at dinner and they both came running.  My son saw it and got happy and then saw what was really on it and looked grossed out. I'll tell you what, I will never go by their face expressions again, well the kiddos.  My hubby LOVED it!! He said it was SOOO good and immediately told me to add it to the list of meals.  I sat down and saw the Kyles plate was pretty much gone.  I asked him and he said "It's not good, it's GREAT!"  Kailey, well lets just say she really doesn't like anything

I am pleased to say that this was a BIG hit in the house.  Now the only thing I need to add to the list is photography lessons.  Wait, I think I've said that before?!

Until Next Time,

Sprinkled All WRONG!

Whew, I am finally able to get back on and share some posts.  I got really really busy the last couple of weeks which was great but I had a hard time balancing my time.  Things have slowed down a little and the kids are on their last week of vacation before school starts back up and that means craziness in the House of Sherrard.

One of the biggest issues that never seems to go away, is the paper clutter going on in the house.  I can't even stand it.  For the most part I tend to have it under control but that's only because I deal with paper as it comes in.  All these pictures your about to see are paper from this Summer.

At the beginning of the Summer while I was setting up my desk area, I went through my paper files, oh yeah, you know those papers that you used to print out before Pinterest ever existed, yeah those files.  I went through all the printables that I have printed out over the last couple of years and PURGED!  It felt so good because I had some papers that I had no idea why I even had them.

I went through them, separated them by categories, looked them up and for some I found the original on Pinterest and just pinned it.  The rest went back in to my file.

I ARC'd My Erin Condren

I know, I know it sounds like a crime right?!  Or like I just said a really bad word.   I have to say that I am super happy about this decision.  I kept going back and forth about whether or not to do it.  But in the end I did it and now I'm going to show you just how I did it.

I am currently on my third Erin Condren.  I absolutely fell in love with this planner.  But let me give you a little bit of a disclaimer, I LOVE planners.  I'm pretty sure I have mentioned that I have gone through quite a few, in one year.  I figured since I know that I go through a couple planners a year that I should just go ahead and take the chance at ARC'ing this bad boy.  So I did it.

My brain seems to work a little slow on things like this.  Originally when I wanted to ARC this, I couldn't find a notebook that it would fit in.  I've seen a lot of people, online, take apart their Erin Condrens and put them in an A5 Filofax.  I tried to put a sheet of the EC in a Junior size notebook and it didn't fit.  My heart was crushed!! DUH, that's when I realized to ARC the cover.  HAHA sometimes I have to laugh at myself, well often, I have to laugh at myself.

Here are the tools that I used to do this.

Here's the before...

For those of you that use this beautiful planner, you know that it has a nice new metal coil.  This is one of her newest updates.  It used to have a plastic coil.

So the first thing I had to do was pull out the coil. Make sure to use a tool that will help you hold and pull on that wire.  I did this while watching TV so it would be a little more enjoyable ;)

Once I was able to uncoil the wire, I was able to straigten it out and pull just a few pages out.

I realized that there was no way I was going to be able to take the planner apart with the wire like that so I snipped a couple pieces off.

Once that part of the wire came off it was easy sailing from there.

First let me apologize for the quality of the pictures.  I certainly will not be winning any awards for my photography.

This is pretty much what the page will look like when it comes out, not ripped of course.  I forgot to take a picture of the pages when they came out, so I ripped one out of my old one, hehe.

The first thing I did was lined it up as close to the cutting line as possible.  You want to make sure that you don't cut off too much of the page so you don't cut in to the calendar part.

Then slice it!  I know nerve racking right?  Well, I held my breath the whole time just so my breathing wouldn't mess me up.

DONE!  You can see that it didn't cut in to the page at all.

That's the WHOLE planner!

I did the cover first so I had a template to make sure the paper would line up correctly.  Simply line it to the Junior size.  When you do this try and use the blank note pages first to practice, or cut a sheet of paper to size so if you mess up you're not wasting part of the calendar.

There is the sheet...

Here is a full view of the month.  You can see that it may cut in to one of the dates on the left side.  But really it's not that big of a deal, I know what number comes after 16 hehe.

Here's a view of the week.

As of now I haven't added anything in to the Erin Condren which was one of the main reasons I decided to do it.  But I'm going to go ahead and call this a success.  I think I fell in love with this planner all over again!

Until next time
