My Summer Reading List

I LOVE to read.  I don't always give myself the time to do it but when I have a good book, I love that I give myself the time to do it.

I would call myself a book snob.  I like brand new, hard cover books.  I LOVE going in to the book store and picking out a new book to read.  If I'm honest I'll say that I buy a new book and put it on my shelf until I'm finished with the book I am currently on.  Well...I have a full bookshelf of books I haven't read.  I've noticed I always end up buying the "IN" book that is on the end cap of the book aisle at Target!

When we first moved here, somehow I found out about a couple books that were being released.  If you were one of the first 500 people to pre-order you were sent an autograph.  Eeekkk this was so exciting for me!

The first was, Living In Style by Rachel Zoe.  I plan on buying a super pretty frame, framing it and putting it in my office space.

Summer Gift Exchange

This lovely group I am in, Style Me Bloggers, is amazing.  We recently did a summer gift exchange, a little gift about where we're from.

I sent my gift to Lana, you'll have to check out what I gave her at Two Teens And Their Mama.  I received a LOVELY gift from Sheila at Making the Most of Everyday.  Let's take a look:

When I opened my box, it was FULL!!! I mean I thought the goodies were never going to end.  Sheila was so super sweet with everything she sent!

A Little, Pretty, In the Kitchen

I'm all about home decor.  I mean, I just can't get enough.  Well, I take that back, my house is pretty much at the point where I have reached, enough.  I don't think I have any blank wall space left.  I'm in trouble when we finally buy a house, or shall I say my walls are ;)

Our Kitchen is T.I.NY!  I can'  I'm STILL having trouble organizing it.  And for someone that LOVES organization, ooh, it gets me DAILY.

Since my kitchen drives me crazy I thought I would spruce it up with a little pretty.  Our Pantry is TINY.  I can't really figure out how to get it to be functional for us.

The pantry is also RIGHT next to a window that has vertical blinds.  This is something that I can not fix because of our lease rules.

This Place I Call Home!

Back with another awesome edition of The Style Me Bloggers Link Up.

I must admit when I saw the writing prompt for this week I was a little nervous.  But as I started looking through pictures, I started to see that we really have done a lot here!

We have been here over one year now. (You can read all about our move, HERE)  It was tough at first but we are pretty much in our "norm" now.

So here is our life in this place we call home:

We went to our second pumpkin patch as a family this year.  The last time we went was about two months after Kailey was born.  It was a lot of fun.

May 2015 Ipsy Review

EEEEK! Let's talk pretty pink bags!  I used to belong to Birchbox.  It was a fun little treat, getting a box in the mail every month but I felt like I was getting the same product over and over again.

I recently decided to sign up with ipsy.  I had seen so many people with them and they were super excited and it looked like they got some decent size samples.

I can't even tell you the excitement when I got my first bag.  I planned on sharing but LIFE got in the way and it just didn't happen.  Fast forward to May's bag!

First let me say that the packaging is something to get excited about.

My Summer Travel Plans

Thank goodness for my Style Me Blogger Babes because it gets me on my little blog EVERY time!  I've neglected my little place but have a plan to make that not happen anymore.

This summer will be the first summer that I will be working since I've had my kiddos.  I'm really bummed about not being able to participate in the late nights, late mornings and not waking up to an alarm clock. The good thing is that I work in a chocolate shop.  In Virginia the heat is BRUTAL so that means chocolate doesn't do good in heat which means I'll have less hours in the summer, which means, more time with the kiddos.  I'll take that!

June will be fun!  My parents are flying out from California about one week after the kiddos get out of school.  Not sure what we are going to do but I DO know that we are going to enjoy their company!  We always look forward to visits with Nana and Papas.

My TOP 3 Wardrobe Picks for Spring and a Little GIVEAWAY!

OOoooh How are you all?!  Eek it's been a while.  This mama has been doing some serious overtime at work.  I can't wait to share those details and get back to blogging more regularly.  Thanks to those of you who sent me messages wondering where I have been :)

I am so excited to be participating in a FABULOUS giveaway with a FABULOUS group of bloggers I met through the Style Me Pretty challenges. How does a $130 gift card to Nordstrom sound?! Sounds good doesn't it? After you check out these beautiful ladies, enter the Rafflecopter right underneath them :)

Like I said, I have been so busy with work.  I promise I will share soon.  I haven't had ANY time to shop.  The weather is definitely changing and I was soooo ready to do the Challenge for Spring but decided to wait.  I can only really wear pants and tennis shoes to work.  My hair has to be pulled back, no jewelry, no perfume, and the temperature stays at 68 degrees inside the store, I'm ALWAYS freezing!

Look What I Can Do: My Not So Constant Hobby

OOOH it feels good to be on here.  I have missed my link-ups so much.

If you have been following along, I've done a couple link ups with some blogging babes! They inspired me to do some fashion posts.  Since I have been M.I.A., I haven't participated yet.  I must admit I haven't felt very confident with the topics.  Every time I would sit down to write a post, something would make me shy away.  But, I'm going to put myself out there.  If anything, maybe I can make someone laugh :)

I LOVE accessories, I mean LOVE accessories.  When I found out I was having a little girl, seven years ago, I was so excited.  I saw pink bows and tutus and glitter and girly, girly, girly things in my future.  Seven years ago boutique bows weren't really as big as they are today.  Once I started seeing them everywhere I was obsessed with the idea of having them for her.

I was lucky enough to have a friend teach me how to make them.  At first I wasn't so great, then I got a little better, then I got pretty decent.  When we first moved here I started selling some bows and started sharing more in my Etsy shop.  The one thing that I realized is that it's a very competitive item to sell.  I've slowed down on making them.  I have a couple orders right now and after that I'm not sure if I'll continue.  Maybe for now I'll just make sure that every outfit of my daughters has a bow and necklace to match :)

Here's some of the items I have made.

Table Decor That You'll Actually Use!

If you're lucky enough to have a home with two dining rooms, one of them might be beautifully decorated all the time.  Me, not so much!

We eat at our dinner table two times a day, five days a week.  Friday nights to Sunday we kind of eat wherever we feel comfy.  One thing that I do like is decor.  Well, I should say love!  I mean if I could, my house would look like the interior of Pier 1 Imports or Kirklands.  Just like, ooh look at that, ooh look at this, ooh ooh ooh.  YUP! I love me some home decor.

Last year we traded in our bar height table for a regular height table.  You can see that here.  I am still absolutely in love with my table from Pier 1.  One thing that I have not been able to conquer is a piece of decor that can stay put so my table doesn't look so plain.  I've tried putting something in the middle and it always ends up getting in the way come dinner time.  Since our table is not in the kitchen, we are always needing napkins and salt and pepper.  It has gotten to be an annoying task.

So I got to thinking and came up with something great!

What I've Been Up To

Let's talk busy!  I know I'm not the only one that has a lot going on.  I mean, I'm sure I don't even come close to a lot of others.  But for me, the month of January was full of busy craziness and with craziness comes a lot of exhaustion and messy messes!

With all of this exhaustion, I gave up doing some things that I love and that includes my blog.  I was doing really good for a while but then I started working longer days and pretty much lost all of my organization skills and time management.

I'm hoping that I have gotten through this little slump of mine and can get to better planning, organization and blog posts.

Here is a little recap of what I've been up to this New Year.

Winter/Holiday Style Me Pretty Challenge. Week 4

Yayyyyy!! We are on the last week of the Style Me Pretty Challenge!  Well, maybe not yayyy because my daily emails are no longer coming in and that makes me sad!

I have to say that the first few days of January have been a little rough.  We have been a lucky family not to be hit with the flu bug that has been going around everywhere.  That being said, this mama has had quite an adjustment going back to work.

One of my goals while the kids were on Christmas break, was to get a chore chart in place for them.  I also wanted to take down the tree, organize the things in the house that have been out of place and finish and put away laundry.  I'm glad to say that I have been able to accomplish all of that.  What I haven't been able to accomplish is the after school portion of my day, which has meant that my clothing challenges have been put to the side while I struggle to fully wake up in the morning.  I am currently up WAAAAAAYYY passed my bedtime!
